Junior Product Engineer (Go / Vue)
Cargoplot builds the world's first autonomous freight platform. Over 1,000 businesses move €150M of goods a year through our platform, comparing 65+ carriers and booking in minutes instead of days.
We are building our engineering team around product engineers. With your team, you decide which solution actually moves the company forward, and you are responsible for delivering it.
What you'll do
- Ship early. Your first reviewed change goes to production within days. Go on the backend, Vue on the frontend.
- Work out what the solution should be. You will hear the problem first hand and contribute your own ideas for solving it. You build it with your team and see it through to production.
- Learn the domain. Freight forwarding is complicated, and within a few months you should be able to explain why a container booking is harder than it looks.
- Join a vertical. You work day to day with the engineers in your vertical and with the Operations, Sales, Marketing or Finance colleagues who depend on what you build.
- Use AI well. We use AI coding tools daily, and so will you. They make a good engineer much faster, so what we look for is the judgement to tell a solid answer from a confident one.
What we're looking for
Zero to three years of professional experience. An internship, a first job, a bootcamp with a portfolio, a CS degree, or a self-taught route all work.
What matters most
- Something you built end to end. It does not have to be polished, but it should work, it should be yours, and you should be able to explain why it is built the way it is.
- Comfortable writing code in at least one language. Go or TypeScript is a head start. Python or JavaScript is fine, we will get you productive in your first weeks.
- Clear English, written and spoken. You will explain things to colleagues who do not write code.
- Curiosity about the business. Every task has a reason behind it, and we would rather you asked than assumed.
Nice to have, not required
- Frontend work in Vue or React
- Anything touching databases, APIs or cloud infrastructure
- Exposure to Docker, Kafka or Kubernetes
- A background in logistics, supply chain or another operationally complex industry
How we work
You would join a small team of experienced engineers covering the whole stack, so there is always someone senior to think through problems with.
We work in the office five days a week, in Houthavens, as a whole company. We are not hiring remote, hybrid or part-time.
What we offer
- €42,000 to €55,000 gross per year, depending on experience
- 30% tax ruling support for eligible internationals
- Visa sponsorship if needed
- Mentoring from senior engineers, as a formal part of their job
- Office on the IJ in Amsterdam Houthavens
