Product owner

About Cargoplot

Cargoplot is building the infrastructure for modern freight forwarding. We work with ambitious logistics teams that want to scale and improve control over operations, margins, and customer experience. Our platform is the backbone of complex, process-driven workflows and product quality directly drives daily operations and commercial outcomes.

To support our next phase of growth, we are looking for a Product Owner who can take full ownership of our product domains and translate strategy into tangible business impact.

Role Scope & Accountability

As Product Owner, you own the product end-to-end. You have final authority over backlog prioritization and scope decisions and are empowered to make trade-offs. You are accountable not just for delivery, but for outcomes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Translate business strategy into a clear product vision, product goals, and roadmap
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer needs through regular customer and internal stakeholder contact
  • Work across teams to clarify the why and what behind product improvements
  • Own and continuously prioritize the product backlog based on business value
  • Make explicit trade-offs and scope decisions when priorities compete
  • Communicate clearly and transparently with internal and external stakeholders

Candidate Profile

Experience

  • 4+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, with a proven track record of influencing business outcomes
  • Hands-on experience working with software engineers in an agile environment (Scrum or Kanban)
  • Experience in complex, process-driven B2B domains such as logistics, supply chain, ERP, or fintech is strongly preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and systems thinking; able to reason about end-to-end operational flows
  • Commercially minded: understands how product decisions connect to revenue, margin, and cost efficiency; thinks in value rather than features
  • Excellent stakeholder management: able to balance competing priorities, communicate for broad support, and push back on senior voices when needed
  • Able to synthesize customer input into clear direction (not wish lists) and translate operational needs into testable requirements
  • Strong written communication skills; able to produce clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritization rationale
  • Awareness of the competitive landscape and alternative solutions shaping customer expectations
  • Comfortable using data to inform decisions; SQL literacy is a plus
  • Pragmatic mindset: values progress and impact over theoretical perfection

Fit

  • High ownership mentality: takes responsibility for product outcomes and does not deflect accountability
  • Comfortable saying no: understands that prioritization requires clear boundaries and disciplined sequencing
  • Thrives in ambiguity and fast-changing environments
  • Genuinely curious about how freight forwarding works at an operational level and eager to learn from the field
